I would like to get use to this

Just a small sample of the over one hundred pictures from my spot by third base during Philadelphia’s best day in my lifetime.

Proof God hates Philadelphia

Really?  I mean come on.  All I’ve ever asked is for it to be easy just ONCE.

On the lighter side of all this, the Rays checked out of their hotel and that hotel is now booked.  Good times.

1-0 just tastes better

Game One is in the books and one thing really stands out to me as a result.  Philadelphia, fans and players, just seem to want it more.  I don’t see any fire from these Rays right now.  While I hate these cowbells in every way, that place was silent in the late innings for only being down by one run.  Six days ago Upton and Longoria scared the shit out of me.  Now it seems like Upton just doesn’t care, and Longoria is out of rookie magic.  Don’t get my wrong, they are great players and will be for quite some time, but I feel as though they used it all up getting here.  Meanwhile all is still quiet on the Howard front, and Chase is still heating up.  I stand by Phillies in six games, but recent history suggests sweeps are popular these days.

In a few hours I’ll be headed to Tampa for Game Two, and back in less than 24 hours.  I’m still looking for the best way to destory a cowbell.  Suggestions will be taken until 8:00pm eastern Thursday.

Florida Championship Trip Part II

Back in 2005 I was able to take a last second trip to Jacksonville to get within a few feet of the Super Bowl.  In 2008 I am headed to Tampa (St Petersburg really) to attend Game Two of the World Series.  Work has been pushed aside, plane and game tickets have been purchased, its officially on.

In other news, the World Series starts tomorrow night.  More on this later.

NLDS Game 3 Ramblings

I’ve been slacking on my thoughts about this series so far.  Hamels’ gem in game one was fantastic, only to be topped by the craziest  inning of baseball I’ve ever seen in person during game two.  With that said, here are my ramblings during game 3.

6:30 – One thing I’ve learned this year is to not underestimate a midwest fanbase, but these fans aren’t getting that ’snowglobe’ effect with these towels.

6:36 – Proving he will always give people a reason to second guess him, Charlie puts Werth in the two hole and moves Shane back to six.  By the way, Jayson Werth is an animal.

6:39 – Shane Victorino is declared as an “all world player” by Joe Simpson (who is Joe Simpson? and why is he in a three man booth?).

6:42 – The artist formily known as Chase Utley grounds out on one pitch to end the top of the 1st.

6:42 – What percentage of Americans know Frank Caliendo is a comedian?

6:46 – Jaime Moyer starts a game with a walk for the first time in decades.

6:51 – Bill Hall has seen more pitches in this at bat than Prince all series.

6:59 – Apparently even Prince got the memo to take some pitches, and gets his first postseason RBI. 1-0 Brewers.

7:01 – RBI single by J….J….Hardy. 2-0 Brewers.

7:04 – Corey Hart looks more like the last guy on the postseason roster than the last guy on the all star team.

7:07 – Howard puts his first ball in play this series with a lead off double.

7:10 – Fun fact of the night, Wisconsin hates Hawaii.

7:15 – I feel like this Ed Norton Colin Farrell movie came out last year and is already on DVD, but no one knew so they’re rereleasing it.

7:18 – The poor Pirates fans that have to watch Jason Kendall in the playoffs.

7:23 – With a .165 average in the last three weeks, I wouldn’t swing at a pitch either Mike Cameron.

7:34 – Signs of life as Rollins gets the 8th double of the series for the Phils.

7:36 – A stat I wish I had, foul balls per at bat, Jayson Werth would probably lead it by 2.

7:45 – Jayson Werth, you’re an animal. Werth throws out least valuable player of the series Corey Hart caught taking 1st base a little too wide.

7:48 – Utley comes alive! First hit of the series, with an uncharacteristic single.

8:03 – It seems the Brewers misplaced their memo and are back to their old impatient ways.  Phils should only need 4 runs to win this game.

8:13 – The Taco Bell commercial with Bob Melvin sounding like a Banjo Kazooie character creeps me out on every level.

8:15 – Speaking of video games, I’m downloading Mega Man 9 after this game.

8:17 – Cameron, who can’t remember his last hit, gets on for the third time tonight without getting a hit.

8:23 – Cameron scores on a sac fly by Braun. 3-0 Brewers.

8:26 – Hart walks to load the bases for Counsell, who no one has heard from in seven years.

8:33 – Number one thing missing from these playoffs, Utley and Werth playoff beards.

8:35 – Werth triples off a Hart wall face plant.  Animal.

8:40 – The 236th time I’ve seen Joe Carter’s home run, uncalled for TBS.

8:43 – Howard with a fielder’s choice to score Werth and the Phils are on the board! 3-1.

8:52 – Relief pitchers getting a hit never feel good, and always seem to find a way to score.

9:00 – Braun strikes out with the bases loaded, huge.

9:06 – Erye looks like he doesn’t have a chance against Fielder, but Prince does him a favor and flys out on a bad 3-1 pitch, inning over!

9:15 – Charlie is a genius, after a double switch the Phils go down in order, leaving Jenkins on deck.

9:22 – Hart sac bunts so that Craig Counsell gets a shot at an RBI, was Corey Hart really in the all star game?

9:28 – Kendall snags an RBI single to make it 4-1 Brew crew.

9:40 – Eric “I’m not trying to look like Seth Rogen” Gagne comes in for the Brewers in the 8th to face former golden son of Milwaukee Geoff Jenkins.

9:44 – This towel thing doesn’t seem to be in Milwaukee’s bag.

9:45 – OK last time I promise, Jayson Werth, you’re an animal! Double off the wall.

9:49 – One more man left on base for the Phils.  This is getting old.

10:00 – Howard beats the shift and wakes me up with a single.  Cue Mike Maddux’s moustache!

10:03 – ESPN Phillies correspondent Greg Dobbs with a base hit to make the most hated man in Wisconsin right now the tying run at the plate.  Excited.

10:05 – Bases chucked for Feliz, oh boy.

10:06 – That was quick, Feliz grounds into a double play on the first pitch. 4-2.

10:08 – Cancel that, Hawaii loses a run because of interference.  Ruiz up with two down.

10:09 – Ruiz grounds out to end the ballgame.  Brewers win 4-1.

See ya Sunday…

That Just Happened – 9/24/08

Julian Tavarez just ran at Shane Victorino standing on third base, causing benches and bullpens to clear (led by a screaming Pat Burrell?).  In the 8th inning of a 10-4 game no less, this week will end me.

Why can’t it be easy just once

A four point monday night loss, but in all fairness it was a fantastic game.

Tied for the wildcard and a half game back in the division.

This half game is sticking around until next thursday and is going to drive me insane.

Somehow I like him even more

Yeah he only hit five, but he still managed to leave his mark.
